Duygu Candarli is currently a Lecturer in TESOL at the University of Southampton. She specialises in academic discourse, second language writing, corpus linguistics, longitudinal and mixed-methods research in applied linguistics. She is also interested in school language and the linguistic demands of academic practices in higher education. She previously worked as a research fellow in the ESRC-funded research project ‘The linguistic challenges of the transition from primary to secondary school’ at the University of Leeds. She has published research articles in the areas of corpus linguistics and second language writing. She is the co-author of The Linguistic Challenge of the Transition to Secondary School: A Corpus Study of Academic Language (Routledge, 2022).
